SYSTEM IDENTIFIER – Each key head is embossed with a system number.
This distinct system registration number is consistent across all keys in your system,
typically ranging from 3 to 7 characters, which may include both letters and numbers,
such as “C123456”, “K0428”, or “333”.
KEY DESIGNATION – Every key head is marked with a key number that specifies
the access level of the key. It could be a single number, a letter, or a combination,
for instance, “A.1”, “4.13.2”, “MKA”, or “GMK”.
UNIQUE ISSUE CODE (ISS) – Each key is assigned a distinctive issue number.
IMAGES OF KEY SIDES – Providing photos of both sides of the key ensures
accurate identification, guaranteeing the key you order matches the key you receive.
KEY PROFILE CODE (e.g. OLC) – While normally not needed for ordering your key,
this code can aid in identification if the key’s other marks have faded due to wear.
CONTACT DETAILS OF LOCKSMITH – The name and phone number of the locksmith
may be useful to determine if API can replicate the key. Our records might include
systems originally associated with other locksmiths.
COLOUR OF KEY HEAD – The color of the key’s head can be helpful for identification
purposes, especially if the key’s engravings have become illegible over time.
